Hopville's Beer Calculus Online Recipe Calculator

Phil Foleen

We here at The Beer Friends strive to provide a never-ending supply of information and help to the Craft Beer world at large. To that end when we find a useful tool to assist us in our homebrewing efforts we can't help but pass it along.

Previously we found a great little application for your iPad called iBrewmaster, reviewed earlier here.

But what if you don't have an iPad or iPhone?  Fear not, Todd Gehman over at has just the thing for you with his Beer Calculus Homebrew Recipe Calculator.

Its a web-based recipe calculator that allows you to tweak all of your homebrew's parameters all the while estimating the final color and taste!  The best part is after tweaking everything on the fly to get that perfect virtual brew with all your hops and malts and what not, it helps calculate the boil times, fermentation period and bottle conditioning times.

A great help for anyone looking to streamline their process.

Homebrew on your fancy new iPad!

Phil Foleen

So you sacrificed a day of homebrewing to go get yourself a fancy new iPad, and now you're behind in researching your next brewing recipe.  Whatever shall you do?  Pick up a copy of Joe Cannici's iBrewmaster and you'll be just fine.

With an extensive Ingredients Database, a Batch Manager to help you schedule and keep track of multiple brew batches, and a great Record Keeper so your whole process for each brew batch can be reviewed to plan for the next one.

Priced at a very reasonable $4.99, this is one App that should make it into any budding Brewmaster's iPad.  Oh, you can get it for the iPhone too.  If you want.  Which you should.
