Beer Review 119: Brooklyn Brew Shop/Beer Friends Oaked Chocolate Porter

Hello Beer Friends Nation! Well, after 118 reviews - we here at The Beer Friends decided to toss our hat in the ring and review one of our home brews... and suckered Greg Avola into joining us.  The Beer Friends have had all different experiences with brewing - some used to brew in college and some just drank - so after a few reviews we felt it was a little unfair to judge without being judged.  Enter Brooklyn Brew Shop and their awesome and easy brew kits.  The first ever Beer Friends homebrew was the Everyday IPA which we messed up somehow and it tasted like vitamin water (we might have been drinking that day).  The video is of our 3rd or 4th collective home brew using the Brooklyn Brew Shops kit and a little bit of our own Beer Friends touch.  Home Brew!  Brooklyn!  Beer!

Breaking News: Sam Adams 2009 Longshot Winners are out!

Phil Foleen

I'm sure you've heard of it....right?  Sam Adams holds a Contest each year called the "Longshot American Homebrew Contest" with the three winners featured in their very own six pack!

This limited edition six-pack will include two bottles each of 2009 Samuel Adams American Homebrew Contest winners Michael Robinson's Old Ale and Ben Miller's Barleywine, as well as two bottles of Employee Homebrew Winner Jeremy White's Saison.

Sounds like we've got quite a treat this year.  You really should rush to your local Beer place and see if you can score a six pack or two, they wont be here forever...and if you miss it there's always next year.

If you would like to enter the contest this year CLICK HERE!

Maybe 23 is your lucky number...keep an eye out for an upcoming post to know why.
