Tuesday, September 18 - Avery Night @ Mission Dolores, Brooklyn: Mission Dolores will be celebrating one of their favorite Colorado breweries tonight - the hop head big beer masters of Avery Brewing. They'll be pouring at least eight lines and they'll all be as big as the Rockies. Check out the list:

Samael Mephistopheles The Beast Joe’s Pilsner Karma White Rascal 19th Anniversary IPA

Mission Dolores is located at 249 4th Avenue between President and Carroll Streets in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Tuesday, September 18 - NY Fall Beer Frolic featuring Ithaca and Kelso Breweries @ Sunswick 35/35, Queens:

Are you as excited about fall beer as we are? Pumpkins, harvests and probably even a few winters sneaking in there - all spicy, malty and tasting like an American Thanksgiving. Perfect for the autumn winds that cut right through you here in NYC and the rest of the northeast. Sunswick 35/35 in Queens will be throwing a bash honoring this special beer time of year by featuring Kelso brewery of Brooklyn and Ithaca brewery of upstate New York. They'll be taking over the tap lines and the list is looking pretty good:

Ithaca Outdoor Harvest Ale Ithaca Country Pumpkin KelSo Fuku KelSo Kellerfest KelSo Rye_aged Belgian Pale Ale KelSo IPA KelSo Nut Brown Lager

Wear a sweater.

Sunswick 35/35 is located at 3502 35th Street at 35th Avenue in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens.

Tuesday, September 18 - Tuesday Night Tastings: Oktoberfest Beer @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

The fall beer keeps on flowing just as the fall leaves will start raining from the trees - it must be the season. Hit up Bierkraft in Brooklyn for an Oktoberfest tasting. Oktoberfest brews are traditionally known as Marzen lagers, malty and crisp, same as the autumn air. Bierkraft's Chris Balla will teach you the ins and outs of the style, both the American versions and the tried and true European (read: German) brews. Tuesday Night Tastings are free but they get crowded so get there early.

Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue between Berkeley and Union Streets in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Wednesday, September 19 - Sierra Nevada Event @ The Blind Tiger Ale House, Manhattan:

Sierra Nevada is an old American Craft Brewery. One of the first to reignite America's passion for hand crafted beer. It then makes perfect sense that they have such a diverse collection of offerings for you to enjoy and they'll be out in full force this Wednesday at the Blind Tiger. They'll even be serving up a selection from their homebrew camp and some aged old favorites. One of Manhattan's first craft beer bars combining forces with one of America's first craft beer revolutionaries, can't go wrong with that one.

Beer Camp Oatmeal Stout Beer Camp Imperial Pilsner Beer Camp Floral IPA (w/ rose hips) Beer Camp Imperial Red IPA Hoptimum Red Wine Barrel-Aged Ovila Dubbel Tumbler Autumn Brown Ale Ovila Belgian Golden 2010 30th Anniversary Jack & Ken’s Black Barleywine Scotch Ale Oktoberfest Bigfoot 2010 Bigfoot 2011 Torpedo Cask (firkin) Porter cask (firkin) Best Bitter Cask (pin)

Thursday, September 20 - San Diego Beer Night @ Breukelen Bier Merchants, Brooklyn:

San Diego has solidified itself as one of the creative and hoppy cities when it comes to the American craft beer scene. This Thursday Breukelen Bier Merchants in Williamsburg will be showing their California loving for SD by hosting several of their breweries. Check out this setup:

NYC Craft Beer Events - Week of 10/10 - 10/16

Hey all you Beer Friends out there!  Let's see what's happening beer wise in this great metropolis of ours throughout this upcoming week.

Monday, October 11 - Troeg's Tasting Event @ Amity Hall, Manhattan: Amity Hall is the place you go to when your nosing around Washington Square Park with your friends that are visiting the city and wanted to see Washington Square Park and then want beer.  You know it's there, you might not head to an NYU neighborhood regularly, but today you know that you will not take your friends to a light beer bar on Bleecker, but you will take them to a good craft beer bar on West 3rd.  If all this happens to be happening tonight, Monday, October 11, then you will be in for a treat:  Troeg's Tasting Event.  Troeg's is a fantastic brewery from outside of Philadelphia.  So after your friends have taken their respective pictures in front of the newly aligned fountain in Washington Square, bring them to Amity Hall, head upstairs and drink Troeg's. They'll thank you for saving them from tourist dogma.

Tuesday, October 12 - I Love NY Beer Week: Captain Lawrence Night @ The Spring Lounge, Manhattan: The Spring Lounge is a great beer bar that borders the entrance to Little Italy, a.k.a. many New Yorkers Tourist Nightmare (seems to be a theme today actually).  However, you are not in Little Italy, nobody is throwing pasta at you and I promise you only have to choose 3 different flavors of gelato if you want to.  The Spring Lounge is spending the week appreciating New York Breweries, from all over the state, starting with Captain Lawrence out of Kingston, NY.  Come on by and grab some Westchester Pale Ale, Brown Bird Brown and Liquid Gold.  And if you want, you can head over to Little Italy and get some gelato on your way out.  You can even choose 3 flavors for the same price.  If you want to.

Wednesday, October 13 - Octoberfest Event @ Standings, Manhattan:  Do you like sports? (YES!)  Do you like bratwurst? (YES!)  Do you like American styled Octoberfest beer?  (YEEEESSSSSS!).  Well, then you should come down to Standings for their Octoberfest celebration on Wednesday.  One of the best craft beer/sports bars in the East Village will be celebrating Octoberfest by featuring 3-5 draughts of American style Octoberfest brews and serving up Bratwursts...for free.  In fact, out of sports, bratwursts and beer...2 out of 3 are free.  That's an Craft Beer Divisional Series win for free stuff.

Wednesday, October 13 - Lagunitas Night @ Amity Hall, Manhattan: Amity Hall is poppin up again in this week's beer events with a night dedicated to Lagunitas Brewery out of Petaluma, Cali, Cali.  Lagunitas, to me at least, is a hidden gem.  Their IPA is popular to the masses, even here in NYC, but with Lagunitas you really have to dig deep to find some truly exceptional beers such as Uncensored, the Little Sumpin' Sumpin', Brown Sugga, Hop Stoopid and Maximus IPA.  Often overlooked, Lagunitas should never be underestimated.  If you think have some re-estimating to do then head on over to Amity Hall and re-estimate the night away.

Thursday, October 14 - I Love NY Week:  Brooklyn Brewery Event @ The Spring Lounge, Manhattan: Hey Brooklyn Brewery!  Dare we say The Beer Friends favorite NY Brewery?  Dare we might!  They'll be visiting the Spring Lounge this coming Thursday with a great selection of their most popular and rare pours.  Garrett doesn't expect you to head into Little Italy before/after this one, however we know that at this point the gelato desire is actually becoming unbearable.  Here's what we suggest: This years Black Chocolate Stout will premiere at this even, it is better than any gelato you will eat, ever.  Have 3.  And some Detonation.  You can't go wrong with this advice.

Thursday, October 14 - Southern Tier Night @ Dive 75, Manhattan: What we're about to tell you might feel strange to the ears of anyone who lives south of 59th street:  You need to get off  your midtown/downtown ass and explore the beer bars of Uptown Manhattan!  Dive 75 at Columbus and 75th street is a for-real beer bar.  They will be featuring Southern Tier (the Beer Friends 2nd favorite NY brewerey?) this Thursday.  Expect many favorites from the Rattle n' Hum event to be reappearing here.  And seriously, subways go uptown too.  They don't all terminate at 59th street.  The beer flows just as good up there too!

Saturday, October 16 - I Love NY Beer Week: Southampton Brewery Night @ The Spring Lounge, Manhattan: One more time!  And we promise not to make fun of Little Italy during this post.  However, we do promise to instruct you to head to the Spring Lounge for at least one of these events.  Really, it's an east village dive bar with quite a bit of atmosphere right on the boundaries of one of the city's most famous neighborhoods.  You can't get more perfect than this.  Head to the back room with a pint and a friend, or two, get a seat by the open air windows and enjoy a crisp fall evening with a Southampton Altbier, Double White or IPA.  Seriously, there's a playground across the street where little village munchkins who will grow up having that NYC lifestyle ingrained in their bones play their NYC hearts out.  What more of an NYC scene could you ask for?  Especially while drinking beer from inside of a dimly lit dive bar?

Enjoy the turning of the leaves this week all you Beer Friends out there!  Fall is here in full swing and the beer is dark, pumpkiny and fall spiced.  Let us know what you're drinking by tweeting us @TheBeerFriends and writing on out Facebook wall at TheBeerFriends.  Hope to see you out this week!

TheBeerFriends Trivia Question (post your response in the comment section, if you're the first correct answer we'll buy you a beer at the bar of your choosing - hint: you can find any of the answers in old articles on http://thebeerfriends.com):  What craft brewery event at which NYC craft beer bar did Graham, Phil and Brad shoot whole families worth of raw oysters?  Literally, we destroyed whole generations of oyster existence here.
