New York City Beer Week Continues!
(don't forget to check back Thursday for our top picks for the weekend)
Tuesday, February 26 - Harpoon Tap Takeover @ The Stag's Head, Manhattan:
Harpoon Brewery mastermind Mark DeLuca will be on hand tonight at the Stag's Head with some of his most devious creations - this isn't your usual IPA/UFO takeover. DeLuca will be bringing El Triunfo, Directors Cut, Barley Wine, Uncle Fester, Rodney Solera and Czernobog.
On top of all that you should expect clam chowder croquettes. On the house. 6 pm.
The Stag's Head is located at 252 East 51st Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in the Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan.
Tuesday, February 26 - Vertical Triton Tasting with Greenport Harbor Brewing Company @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:
Greenport Harbor new that they couldn't just show up with the usual pours if they were taking over the taps at Bierkraft during NYC Beer Week. They thought long and hard and decided that the only proper way to celebrate this week long brew festival is by bringing several varieties of their small batch seasonal barleywine Triton. As you indulge they'll lead you through the science behind how strong ales change as they age.
Beer and brains, beer and brains.
Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue between Union and Berkeley Streets in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Tuesday, February 26 - Barrier Brewing Night @ The Double Windsor, Brooklyn:
Barrier Brewing is heading to the Double Windsor tonight! Craig and Evan from the brewery will be bringing a fine line up that you will not want to miss out on. The second best part: each brew is only $5. The best part:
Zythossaurus (10% Imperial Pale)
Frau Blucher Rauch Bier
Cairn Scotch Ale
That's $45 plus tip if you were counting.
The Double Windsor is located at 210 Prospect Park West on the corner of 16th Street in the Windsor Terrace neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Wednesday, February 27 - Rockaway Brewing Night @ Jimmy's No. 43, Manhattan:
What better way to celebrate NYC Beer Week than to celebrate one of the city's newest breweries? Rockaway Brewing Company (one of three breweries to open in Queens this past year) will be showcasing their Hi Plains Drifter Scottish Ale , a small batch brew that tastes different every time it's made. Marcus Burnett, the brewer, will also be bringing their ESB and Stout, hopefully among others.
Guest Rich Pinto will also be serving up complimentary appetizers with each Rockaway brew purchase. Stop by early (their tapping at 5 pm) and support NYC brewing!
Jimmy's No. 43 is located at downstairs 43 East 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan.
Thursday, February 28 - The Queens Showcase @ Sunswick 35-35, Queens:
Did someone just mention brewing beer in Queens? I know, it sounds strange, but it is true and quite delicious. Sunswick 35-35 will be featuring pours from Singlecut (of Astoria), Rockaway (of the Rockaways) and Bridge & Tunnel (of Maspeth). You'll drink so much Queens beer you'll leave with talking in one of their many regional accents.
Sunswick 35-35 is located at 3502 35th Street at 35th Avenue in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens.
Thursday, February 28 - Bar Harbor Brewing Company @ Standings, Manhattan:
This event is a sentimental one for The Beer Friends. Yeaaaars ago, before we were barely a household domain name, a couple of The Beer Friends headed out on the road, traveling around all of New England in search of craft brew and enlightenment (usually found after 3 or 4 brews). One of our favorite stops was the Atlantic Brewing Company in Bar Harbor, Maine (a.k.a. Bar Harbor Brewing Co.) They'll be at Standings this Thursday and pouring their finest brews:
Cadillac Mountain Stout
New Guy IPA (bottles)
And of course, free pizza at 8 pm.
Standings is located at upstairs 43 East 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan.
