New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of September 9, 2012

Graham

This beer friend is back from the Caribbean and happy as all hell to be able to drink something besides Presidente.  Let's see what good ol' America has in store for me! Tuesday, September 11 - Tuesday Night Tastings: Pumpkin Beers @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

They seem to come out earlier year after year, but we still love em' (until we're drinking them in June that is).  Pumpkin beers are back!  From the laid back styles of Bluepoint to the in-your-face-pumpkin-pies of Dogfishead and Southern Tier, it's a style that nobody agrees on but everyone has some sort of favorite.  Head on down to Bierkraft tonight to find out where you land on the pumpkin spectrum.  Wherever you land, you can't go wrong.

Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue between Berkeley and Union Streets in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Wednesday, September 12 - Southern Tier Brewery Night @ Mudville 9, Manhattan:

Southern Tier always has, and still is, one of this beer friends favorite breweries.  From my days of sipping Phin and Matt's while living in the famed region of its brewing to my current infatuations with their Pumking, Unearthly and Backburner I've always been a huge fan.  Reps from the brewery will be bringing 7 craft lines and their wealth of knowledge to Mudville 9 this Wednesday to help you fill your craving for both brew and curiosity.  Don't miss it! Mudville 9 is located at 126 Chambers Street between Church Street and West Broadway in the Financial District of Manhattan.

Wednesday, September 12 - Kelso and Empire Brewery Tap Takeover @ Dive 75, Manhattan:

Want some true, born and bred New York State craft beer?  Well, this Wednesday Kelso of Brooklyn and Empire (of Syracuse) are teaming up to make your dreams come true.  They'll be showing up and taking over all the taps, setting up a night of Empire State proportions.  The list is still in the works, but we here at the Beer Friends are sure you won't be let down.

Only the best for New Yorkers.

Dive 75 is located at 101 West 75th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues in the Upper West Side neighborhood of Manhattan.

Saturday, September 15 - Annual Pig Roast! @ Sycamore, Brooklyn:

If you have some time this coming Saturday to head out to the other side of Prospect Park (the part of Brooklyn most Brooklynites think is too far away) then we highly suggest attending this event.  Chef Tom Kearney behind The Farm on Adderly (one of the best restaurants in NYC that Manhattaners overlook) and the bar geniuses behind Sycamore will be throwing a 14-hour pig roast in honor of well, why the hell not have a pig roast this weekend.

Lagunitas will be flowing for $5 a pint, music will be playing and in the evening you'll be able to grab a big plate of roasted pig. They also invite any truly dedicated pig roasting guest to head on over the night before to bear witness to the start of the pig roasting over a pint or two.

Maybe they'll even let you sleep over so you can get a good head start on Saturday morning.

Sycamore is located at 1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster Roads in the Flatbush/Ditmas Park neighborhood of Brooklyn.  For those intrepid enough to head out from Manhattan - take the Q to the Cortelyou Road stop and walk east on Cortelyou Road until you hit Westminster Road, only a few short steps from your final pork heaven beer destination.
