New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of July 22, 2012

Tuesday, July 24 - $10 Tuesday Tastings: Lagunitas @ Jimmy's No. 43, Manhattan: Tonight's installment of what Time Out New York calls one of the best deals for a weeknight is featuring one of California's most prominent and creative breweries: Lagunitas. Brewers of a hop-tastic IPA, refreshing Pilsner and hush hush Censored Copper Ale that can be found nation-wide also brews a line of intensely creative smaller batches - Lil' Sumpin' Sumpin', Wilco Tango Foxtrot and Brown Sugga. Also famous for their delicious winter seasonal mess-up - where they realized far too late that they couldn't produce their winter brew and their regular line ups with their current brewing capacity, so instead brewed a winter IPA and named it "Lagunitas Sucks" in apology. Tonight you will get learned on all this as the beer experts at Jimmy's walk you through a tasting of these legendary brews.

Jimmy's No. 43 is located at downstairs 43 East 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan.

Tuesday, July 24 - Empire Brewing Company "A Summer Night" @ Spring Lounge, Manhattan:

The Beer Friends have a lot of favorite breweries across this great country (and world for that matter) but Empire Brewing Co. has a very special place in our hearts. One of us even grew up going to their upstate New York restaurants, not drinking of course, and now that we are drinking their brews have become quite good friends with their amazing brewing and representative staff. They'll be riding in strong to the Spring Lounge on Wednesday for a tap takeover of epic proportions.

Here's a lineup for ya:

IPA Amber Ale White Aphro Cream Ale Skinny Atlas Light Summer Ale Black Magic Stout Blueberry Ale Empire State Pale Ale Liv and Let Rye Brown Ale American Strong Ale

There will also be complimentary jambalaya and gumbo.

The Spring Lounge is located at 48 Spring Street at the corner of Mulberry Street in the NoLita neighborhood of Manhattan.

Bourbon, beer and tater tots for $10: Sold. Oskar Blues: Sold. Rev's Birthday: Who's Rev you ask? Well, if you don't know Rev then you need to get your beer-loving-behind down there this Wednesday. Rev is just one of the archetypes of Idle Hands delicious combination of beer and bourbon. I'd say more about him, but really you should just head over and wish him a happy birthday.
