New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of July 1, 2012

The Month of July - July Good Beer Month @ NYC Craft Beer Bars, NYC: For all the crap us New Yorkers give Bloomberg, one cannot deny that he's done at least one thing right:  Decree that every July is Good Beer Month.  Good job King Bloomberg.  Good job.  Here at the Beer Friends we'll be bringing you the best events for you to check out all month long.  Keep checking in to stay up to date.  Happy July Good Beer Month.

Tuesday, July 3 - $10 Tuesday Tastings: New York Beers @ Jimmy's No. 43, Manhattan:

Recently ranked by Time Out New York as one of the best deals for a weeknight activity, Jimmy's No. 43's $10 Tuesday Tastings are hitting new heights.  This Tuesday they will be tasting pours from NYC breweries.  They haven't released a list on which beers and breweries will be featured, however just thinking about all the great NY breweries leads our minds to happily wander.  Sixpoint, Ommegang, Brooklyn, Kelso, Greenport Harbor, Bluepoint, Empire, Saranac...

The list goes on and on.

Jimmy's No. 43 is located at downstairs 43 East 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan.

Tuesday, July 3 - Captain Lawrence Night @ Bar Great Harry, Manhattan:

Oops. We forgot to mention Captain Lawrence while listing NY breweries before.  Well, Bar Great Harry didn't forget.  They are hosting the Westchester based brewery this Tuesday and will be pouring 8 - 10 lines.  They also have happy hour prices between 6 and 10 pm.  Enjoy.

Bar Great Harry is located on the Northeast corner of Smith and Sackett Streets in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Wednesday, July 4 - Celebrate the 4th with Brooklyn Brewery @ One Stop Beer Shop, Brooklyn:

We know that most of you will be wringing the Hudson attempting to glimpse many brightly colored, flying, exploding objects but if you're idea of celebrating this nation's independence involves watching those same flying, exploding objects on TV while drinking craft beer then you've come to the right place.  Head across the non-fireworked river to Greenpoint and the One Stop Beer Shop.  They're promising 4 lines.  Nothing says independence day like craft beer in Brooklyn.

One Stop Beer Shop is located at 134 Kingsland Avenue at Beadel Street in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Thursday, July 5 - Good Beer Month Blowout @ Barcade, Brooklyn:

Barcade is throwing a special party for July Good Beer Month.  They are tapping some rare, vintage and outrageous brews.  All for your pleasure.  I could write more about why you should attend this event, but the list seems to do that very appropriately on its own:

Allagash Bourbon Black Allagash Vrienden 2011 Brooklyn Monster 2007 Captain Lawrence Xtra Gold 2010 Carton Monkey Chased the Weasel Dogfish Head Burton Baton 2010 Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron 2009 Dogfish Head World Wide Stout 2010 Founders Backwoods Bastard 2010 Keegan Super Kitty Nectar Black Xantus 2010 Smuttynose Satchmo Southern Tier Oat 2008

Saturday, July 7 - Sunday, July 8 - Cook-Out NYC @ Governors Island:

This Saturday Governors Island will be the staging ground for a food and beer festival that can only be describe in one way: EPIC.  There are many facets to this event.

First, the food.  There will be over 20 grills and barbecue stations, a kimchi eating contest to rival Coney Island's hotdog contest, kimchi workshops with famous celebrity chefs and desert stands.  Who doesn't like desert stands?  Or 20 stations of grilled/smoked meats.  For a full list of purveyors you can go here.

Next, the drink.  Sixpoint will be resurrecting the Signal Smoke Ale that goes smashingly with anything smoked or grilled (fits in perfectly) alongside 6 of their other brews.  There will also be sangria and other summer cocktails available.

Finally, the revelry.  Pack all the food and drink greatness together and unleash it upon Colonel's Row on Governor's island, add some bluegrass styled Americana bands and throw in some family friendly activities for the kids and you've got a making for a fantastic Saturday or Sunday.

You can get tickets here.

The Ferry to Governor's Island is located at 10 South Street in the Battery Maritime Building Broad and Whitehall Streets in the Financial District of Manhattan.
