New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of June 10, 2012

Tuesday, June 12 - Trappist Ales @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn: Well this is exciting:  the world is getting a new Trappist Brewery.  Doesn't sound big does it?  But it is.  Before this new guy showed up there were only 7 in the world.  You have to meet critical standards to become a Trappist brewery - a Trappist beer can only be brewed by a specific sect of monks (of the same name). It's a very holy process.  In honor of this event Bierkraft is pouring their finest Trappist ales and their cellar manager Matt Barclay will be answering your questions.

Congratulations Trappistenbrauerei Engelszell in Austria.  You made the cut.

Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue between Berkeley and Union Streets in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Wednesday, June 13 - Green Flash and Founders Collaboration: Linchpin White IPA Pouring @ Fourth Avenue Pub, Brooklyn:

I don't think anyone realized a collaboration on this scale was possible or even being thought about.  Well, it has been - we couldn't be happier.  Green Flash of San Diego and Founders of Michigan have paired up to produce the Linchpin White IPA.  Being poured this Wednesday at the Fourth Avenue Pub in Brooklyn.  And they'll be bringing a few extra brews to really put it over the top.

Le Freak, West Coast IPA, Centennial IPA, Red’s Rye P.A. and the mysterious Old Curmudgeon.

We'll take it all.

Fourth Avenue Pub is located at 76 4th Avenue between Bergen and St. Mark's Street in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Thursday, June 14 - Kelso Beer Tap Takeover @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

Kelso Brewery of Brooklyn could be described as the unsung hero of Brooklyn Brewing - standing next to giants like Brooklyn Brewery and Sixpoint Craft Ales, it's hard to see them sometimes.  They make some of the best beer in the city of New York and you need to get more familiar with them.  You're just in luck - this Thursday, Bierkraft is hosting them and all their brews on all the taps.  Two Brooklyn craft beer powerhouses combining forces?  Sounds like an evening of epic proportions.

Epic proportions.

Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue between Berkeley and Union Streets in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Thursday, June 14 - Alesmith Draft Night @ The Bronx Alehouse, The Bronx:

Two mysteries to many New Yorkers:  Alesmith Brewery and the Bronx.  I have to be honest, I'm disappointed in all of us.  Time to make it up to the craft beer world.  Let's atone by hitting up Alesmith Draft Night at the Bronx Alehouse.  Alesmith is a fine craft brewer out of San Diego - a rarity on the East Coast that is just recently hitting it off with the New York craft Beer scene.  The Bronx Alehouse is the Bronx's premier craft beer bar - slinging great food, beer and crafty knowledge to the residents of New York's toughest borough.  They'll be pouring four Alesmith drafts that you can't find all together in one place anywhere else on the East Coast - that's right: this is a one time only event.

Anvil ESB IPA Nautical Nut Brown Speedway Stout

The Bronx Alehouse is located at 216 West 238th Street between Broadway and Putnam Avenue in the Riverdale neighborhood of The Bronx.
