New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of March 18, 2012

This is a week of doubles apparently.  Two of NYC's best beer bars are doubling up their event lineups this week with some big time brews.  Check em' out! Tuesday, March 20 - Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout Debut @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

Something good is happening in the world: Left Hand Milk Stout is going nitro.  They've invented some futuristic technology in order to become one of the first American craft brews that are nitro canning a stout.  All we have to say over here is thank you.  That sounds like a brilliant idea.

We have forgot to mention that this is a Tuesday Night Tasting hosted by Left Hand's own Dan.  And it's free.

Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue between Berkeley and Union Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Tuesday, March 20 - Rye and Oats $10 Tuesday Tasting @ Jimmy's No. 43, Manhattan:

Barley isn't the only grain for brewing - rye's and oats are popping up all over the place these days.  Feeling a bit confused about what you're having and what tastes you should be looking for?  Don't worry Jimmy's No. 43 has got your back.  The latest installment of their Tuesday Tastings is aimed at walking you through the styles.  And when it comes to both rye's and oats there are subtle tastes that you will be happy you found.  Beereducate yourself, you'll be glad.

Jimmy's No. 43 is located at downstairs 43 East 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, East Village, Manhattan.

Wednesday, March 21 - SlantShack Jerky and Bronx Beer Night @ Jimmy's No. 43, Manhattan:

We had to throw this one out there.  Two things we love - jerky and beer.  And we have some friends over at SlantShack - they make incredible jerky.  Their newest flavor uses a marinade mixed with the Bronx Pale Ale.  You can drink several of these delicious pale ales while eating the jerky marinated in them this Wednesday at Jimmy's.  They have a deliciously busy week over there - you know, jerky does go really well with rye, perhaps they should merge events?

Jimmy's No. 43 is located at downstairs 43 East 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, East Village, Manhattan.

Wednesday, March 21 - IPA Night @ The Stag's Head, Manhattan:

Everyone's favorite night of the year is obviously IPA Night.  We owe the Stag's Head a thank you - they're throwing one this week.  They'll be featuring Cigar City's Big Apple IPA alongside Butternuts Brutus Double IPA.  Two heavy hitters sure to pack a hop punch that you w0n't forget.  And it doesn't end there - as usual they'll be providing free snacks and a promise of a few more IPA pours.

The Stag's Head is located at 252 East 51st Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, Upper East Side, Manhattan.

Thursday, March 22 - Founders Brewing Tap Takeover @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

Founders must be having the year of it's life - they couldn't get any more love from the craft beer community, especially here in NYC where famed specialty and aged brews are spoken about as famous hidden treasures that only the most dedicated and adventurous beer drinkers can locate and enjoy.  Well, that part just got a bit easier - they're bringing their lineup and taking over the taps this Thursday at Bierkraft.  They haven't released the line up yet - but when the words "rarities" and "pulling out of the cellar" are used together we can infer which brews they are talking about.

Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue between Union and Berkeley Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
