Hashtag Battle Week Eleven!

Brad

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

In the spirit of competition, Beer Friends would like to invite everyone to our NFL season hashtag battles! Using hashtagbattle.com we will pit two breweries against each other when their NFL counterparts are facing off on the gridiron. Are you ready for some football? And drinking? And #hashtag battle?!?!?!

What's a hashtag battle? When you're drinking a beer of a brewery competing in the battle (#boulevardbrewing vs #harpoon), throw a #hashtag of the brewery and tweet it (or setup your foursquare or untappd to push to tweet and include the #hashtag) and we'll use hashtagbattle.com to declare a winner after the Monday Night football game on ESPN. We're starting on Sunday morning so drink up - support your team, support your beer, drink local and hashtag battle!

Week Eleven - Kansas City Chiefs (#boulevardbrewing) vs New England Patriots (#harpoon)

This one is kept all in the family.  A few years back (Denver fans try not to remember) the Patriots coaching/management tree blew up and went in search for their own riches out west.  Josh McDaniels ended up at Denver with the HC and GM title, and a 11-17 record (remember when Denver started 6-0, yeah then 5-17 afterwards).  Scott Pioli ended up in Kansas City and grabbed Todd Haley fresh off the Arizona Cardinals Superbowl run.  Scott and Todd are still in KC, barely.  This season has been rough for the manager and coach, losing key players to injuries but also exposing gaps in personel that poor drafts and free agent signings have developed.  Kansas City started the year awful, then won 4 in a row to head atop the lowly AFC West, then lost to Denver and Miami.  Move over Six Flags, the Chiefs season is the best ride in KC and doesn't look to stop anytime soon.  Boulevard Brewing is the best thing Kansas City has going.  The Brewmaster (John McDonald) was just honored with Brewmaster of the Year and in this years GABF in Denver Boulevard won two golds (Pale Ale and Saison-Brett) and two bronze (Zon and Collaboration No. 2) medals.  So Boulevard is achieving what the Chiefs are working towards, maybe a little coaching can help these two become Hashtag Battle champions.

New England was left in the dust - They lost their GM (Pioli) and offensive guru (McDaniels) and rumors were that Belichick was losing it.  The New England Patriots are 30 - 11 since they left.  However, the Pats are still looking for that Playoff win.  This is the ultimate team - even the big superstar (Tom Brady) doesn't tweet after every game and Ochocinco has dialed it down a notch (similar to his receptions).  With the big money spending and free agent signings in Philly and New York (A), New England quietly does what they do best - win.  Harpoon has always been a winner.  Although Sam Adams seems to be beer king in the Northeast, Harpoon is actually the first brewery to operate out of Massachusetts.  Harpoon is a great brewery with deep roots and a very enjoyable tour.  If both of these guys continue their winning ways I don't see how they can ever be stopped - unless certain laws pass in Massachusetts that would kill local breweries not producing over half of their grains.
