Hello Beer Friends Nation!
In the spirit of competition, Beer Friends would like to invite everyone to our NFL season hashtag battles! Using hashtagbattle.com we will pit two breweries against each other when their NFL counterparts are facing off on the gridiron. Are you ready for some football? And drinking? And #hashtag battle?!?!?!
What's a hashtag battle? When you're drinking a beer of a brewery competing in the battle (#schlafly vs #shiner), throw a #hashtag of the brewery and tweet it (or setup your foursquare or untappd to push to tweet and include the #hashtag) and we'll use hashtagbattle.com to declare a winner after the Monday Night football game on ESPN. And because football needs beer, we're starting on Sunday morning through the Monday Night game, so support your team, support your beer, drink local and hashtag battle!
Week Seven - St Louis (Schlafly) at Dallas (Shiner)
The sky was the limit for the St Louis Rams. They had a high flying offense, a young QB with a killer arm and a defensive minded coach. Then they hired Josh McDaniels. 0-5 and yet to score 17 points in a game with Sam Bradford's arm (3,500+ yards and 18 TD's in a rookie year), and Steven Jackson's legs (ask anyone with him in past fantasy league) this team is lost. Maybe they spend to much time wondering why there is a giant arch in their town... Schlafly
is not lost, they are only lost in the Budweiser controlled beer market of St. Louis - but once they break outside they are a delicious find. The Oatmeal Stout is always a easy order and the Dry-hopped APA is a delicious brew as well. Hopefully they can both find their way and become their true promise-filled selves.
The Dallas Cowboys invented the term overrated. With their owner throwing around money and "building a stadium for the Cowboy's to win the SuperBowl in" (they failed to make the playoffs), and Tony Romo still thought of as the answer the Cowboys might be spinning for a while. Although they built the original Cowboy's stadium with a open roof so "God could see the boys play," since then he's asked it closed. Shiner
is the true Star in the Lone Star state (with Austin - that's a great town). Shiner Bock seems to be the most popular but this Beer Friend actually prefers the Black Lager they produce. However, this small brewery is often over shadowed in Texas - hopefully they can grow out of the shadow, the Cowboys can start filling theirs and win this week's hashtag battle!
