New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of October 9, 2011

Happy Columbus Day week!  In order to remember the man who discovered America, after the Native Americans and Vikings were already here, we suggest some craft beer related events.  While the Italian craft beer market hasn't quite hit the US market in full force yet, there are quite a few American brews for you to drink.  And after all, he discovered America right?  We could probably trace the genealogy of American craft beer back to him.  And if it wasn't such a terrible idea, we here at the Beer Friends probably still wouldn't do it. Tuesday, October 11 - McNeill's Brewery Night @ Rattle n' Hum, Manhattan:

Half of the Beer Friends are from the northeast.  All of the Beer Friends love beer from Vermont.  Especially McNeill's.  They'll be pouring an impressive collection of their brews at Rattle n' Hum tonight.  Check out the list:  Oktoberfest, Blond Bombshell, Firehouse, ESB, Pullmans, Old Ringworm and Warlord.

Rattle n' Hum is located at 14 East 33rd Street between Madison and 5th Avenues, Midtown, Manhattan.

Wednesday, October 12 - Nebraska Tasting Night @ Good Beer, Manhattan:

The 2011 Winner of the Beer Friends Final Four is throwing a rare NYC tasting event.  Nebraska will be bringing the Brunette Nut Brown, American IPA, Cardinal West Coast Pale Ale and Hop God Belgian IPA to the Lower East Side's Good Beer.  Hit em' up for the best brew from the corn belt's best brewery.

Good Beer is located at 422 9th Street between 1st Avenue and Avenue A, East Village, Manhattan.

Wednesday, October 12 - Rocky Mountain High @ The Pony Bar, Manhattan:

Even though everyone's favorite John Denver song is really about West Virginia, we all realize his heart and home was Colorado.  The Pony Bar is paying homage to John this Wednesday by featuring the regular and the rare from Colorado's best breweries.  Expect liquid deliciousness, including some first time pours, straight from Boulder, Left Hand, Breckenridge, Fort Collins, Oskar Blues, Great Divide, Flying Dog and Avery.  That's a list that John would have found impressive.  That's a list we here at the Beer Friends consider not-miss.

The Pony Bar is located at 637 10th Avenue at 45th Street, Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan.

Thursday, October 13 - Brooklyn Brewery Draft Takeover @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

When a brewery comes as commonly available as Brooklyn Brewery is here in New York, it's sometimes easy to take them for granted.  Forget their importance.  Well, they were the first, after a long dry spell, to bring brewing back to Brooklyn.  They have brewed classic brews in the England tradition and inspired creativity among the national American beer scene.  They'll be taking over the draft lines at Bierkraft with all their best.  Check out the list:

Pilsner Pennant Ale Brown Ale East India Pale Ale Oktoberfest Post Road Pumpkin Ale Black Chocolate Stout 2008 Monster Ale 2007 Cookie Jar Porter Blast Cuvee Noire Brown Ale Cask East India Pale Ale Cask

Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue between Berkeley and Union Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
