New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of July 17, 2011

And I'm back.  Freshly returned from California and the short, but excellent brewery tour this Beer Friend embarked on (You can find Day 1 and Day 2 already published, Day 3 is coming soon!), I'm ready for some New York City craft beer events to get back onto East Coast time and state of mind. Tuesday, July 19th - $2 Sixpoint Can Night @ The Double Windsor, Brooklyn:

If there's one thing we love more than anything else here at the Beer Friends it's good, cheap craft beer.  If there's something we love more than that - it's cheap Sixpoint craft beer.  The Sixpoint Brewery's softball team has been making it's home at the Double Windsor this season and this Tuesday is there last game.  They'll be celebrating by giving the bar a ton of Sixpoint cans - The Crisp, Righteous Ale, Bengali Tiger and Sweet Action will be on sale for $2 a can while supplies last.

And if you're not feeling the cans, or just want to try something a bit above the ordinary (although nothing Sixpoint could quite be referred to as just ordinary) then they're also pouring drafts of Gemini IPA, Autobahn Double IPA, Brevity Belgian Wit and the Belgian IPA.

It appears that if you're a bar then the Sixpoint softball team is the team to sponsor.

The Double Windsor is located at 210 Prospect Park West between 15th and 16th Street, Park Slope Brooklyn.

Tuesday, July 19 - Dogfish Head Takes the Tap @ Rattle n' Hum, Manhattan:

Dogfish Head is taking over Rattle n' Hum's taps with an impressive  explosive collection of brews that will blow you away.

Check out the list:

Wednesday, July 20 - Saison Sampling Night @ The Stag's Head, Manhattan:

Tis' the season - for Saisons! Stag's Head will be serving up a small selection of saisons for your imbibing pleasure.  Drink up Sierra Nevada’s/Abbey of New Clairveaux collaboration - the Ovila Saison, plus North Coast’s Le Merle, Ommegang Hennepin and Pretty Thing’s Jack D’Or.

And like Stag's Head always does, they'll be serving up flatbreads to go with the brew.  Drink it up and eat it up!

Thursday, July 21 - Blue Point Brewing Company Tap Takeover @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

One of Long Island's finest breweries will be blowing up Bierkraft's taps this Thursday.  They'll be pouring nine different Blue Point brew's including the delicious and hard to find - Toxic Sludge, black IPA.  Brewery Rep Shane Byrnes will be on hand to answer any question and to enjoy the brews alongside you!

Bierkraft is located at 191 Fifth Avenue, between Berkeley and Union Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Thursday, July 21 - Sierra Summerfest @ Standings, Manhattan:

Sierra Nevada will be bringing four non-pale ale brews to pour at Standings this Thursday.  You can grab pints of their Porter, Torpedo Extra IPA, Southern Hemisphere Harvest Ale and Ovila (their new Belgian dubbel).  And in good Standings fashion there will be free-food on hand - Brats from Wechsler's!

Standings is located at 43 East 7th Street (upstairs), between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, East Village, Manhattan.

Friday, July 22 - Oscar Blues Tasting @ GRAB Specialty Foods, Brooklyn:

We love ourselves some Oscar Blues, that's for sure.  Enough to head out to Brooklyn just for a tasting event.  And maybe pick up a growler or two, or three...  The official list hasn't been released just yet, but we can imagine what they'll be bringing.  Probably nothing too crazy, but then again, you never know.

GRAB Specialty Foods is located at 438 7th Avenue, between 14th and 15th Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
