New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of June 26, 2011

Graham

Summer feels like it's been here for quite a bit now, at least if you live in the Big Apple. However, if you get summer perks like Summer Friday's or summer's off (damn teachers!) then you have a whole lot of newly freed up time on your hands. You may be pondering, asking yourself - what is the best way to spend this new free time!?!? By now you should know where I'm going with this.  Honestly, it should be an obvious decision - spend it on beer! Craft beer, brewing, going to events, and becoming an expert on America's favorite beverage. And I think I can help you out with the events.

Monday, June 27 - Sierra Nevada and Cupcakes @ Idle Hands Bar, Manhattan:

I know it's last minute but this event could be awesome... No - it WILL be awesome. Head to Idle Hands bar tonight for Sierra Nevada Summerfest and mini-hamburger shaped cupcakes from Robin of Land of Cake Believe bakery. If your of a less sweet more real mini-hamburger kind of person, they'll have those too. As they do every Monday.

Idle Hands Bar is located at 25 Avenue B

Tuesday, June 28 - Sly Fox Tasting @ Good Beer, Manhattan:

Our brewing brothers in PA will be flocking to Good Beer, the less than a year old East Village artisanal beer shop, this Tuesday to share their craft with New Yorkers young and old. Well, older than 21 that is.

The draft list isn't official yet but look forward to expecting the best Sly Fox has to offer and free taste the crap out of all of it.

Good Beer is located at 422 E 9th St

Wednesday, June 29 - Goose Island Tasting @ Dive Bar, Manhattan:

Answer this question honestly - when "Sellout" came out did you stop being a fan of Reel Big Fish? Depending on your answer to that question will probably decide whether or not you still head out to Goose Island events.

Well this Beer Friend hasn't turned his back on the Chicago brewery yet. They still make one of the best tasting lines of Big Beers around and if they know what's good for them they won't stop in lieu of their big sellers.

Come out to Dive Bar Wednesday to reaffirm your affection for Chicago (and Illinois) biggest craft brewery. The tasting list hasn't been released but we only expect the best. Or else...

Dive Bar is located at 732 Amsterdam Ave.

Thursday, June 30 - Greenport Harbor Event @ Third and Long, Manhattan:

Here at the Beer Friends we can't stop showing love for Greenport Harbor brewing company. Ever since that fateful night at Barcade last summer when we fell head over heels for them.

Third and Long, not your expected craft beer bar will be supporting the upstart brew company by throwing them an event this Thursday. The beer list hasn't been made available yet (seems to be a theme) but the brewers will be on hand to answer your questions and there will be nice discounts on the beer. We love both of those things.

Third and Long is located at 523 Third Avenue

Thursday, June 30 - IPA Draft Event @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

Finally someone after my own heart - a heart that is over hopped. Bierkraft from here on out (at least for the summer) is dedicating the last Thursday of every month to the king of beer. Beer styles that is. Be prepared to blow your taste buds away with the over hopped, bitterness that is IPA.

A total IPA draft takeover from the nations best brewers of IPA's will leave you wanting more. I'm wanting more already and it hasn't even happened yet.

Geniuses at Bierkraft - you have done your job.

Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avene between Union and Berkeley Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
