New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of May 8, 2011

It's time to be rewarded.  After all, you've done a lot.  It's time to take a load off your feet and give yourself a gift.  You know, something you really deserve.  Apparently the New York City craft beer scene agrees.  And they've devoted quite the week of events to your honor.  All you have to do is show up, enjoy the company, consume the delectable food and imbibe the delicious brew.  Treat yourself to this: Tuesday, May 10 - Wednesday, May 11 - The 15th Annual Rogue Northwest Beer and Oyster Festival @ The Blind Tiger Ale House, Manhattan:

If you took a straw poll of the Beer Friends favorite beer event of the year, this one would have a strong chance of sweeping the vote.  Picture this:  All of Rogue Brewery's best brews, Oysters flown overnight fresh straight from

Yaquina Bay, Oregon and a legendary bar with possibly the best craft beer atmosphere in NYC.  No, it's not a dream.  It happens every year and it's happening this Tuesday - Wednesday at the Blind Tiger.  Oyster shooters and West Coast craft brews make us here at the Beer Friends incredibly excited for the next two days at the Blind Tiger.  We hope you become equally excited.

Check out the brew list:

The Blind Tiger Ale House is located at 281 Bleecker Street between Jones Street and 7th Avenue, West Village, Manhattan.

Tuesday, May 10 - Smuttynose Brewing Company Night @ The Pony Bar, Manhattan:

Once your done shooting Oysters and drinking Rogue downtown stop by Pony on your way back uptown for hoppy refreshments by the down-home, New Hampshire brewing styles of Smuttynose Brewery at the Pony Bar this Tuesday evening.  Smuttynose brewmaster David Yarrington and rep Pat Fondiller will be on hand to discuss the brews straight outta the White Mountain state.  Pony is expecting a full house with Smutty bringing twenty draught lines and a cask or two so be prepared for a big night Tuesday.  You might want to form a beer drinking group so you can tag team Tuesday.  You could name yourself The Beer Acquaintances.  It's catchy.

The Pony Bar is located at 637 10th Avenue on the corner of 45th Street, Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan.

Wednesday, May 11 - Girl Scout Cookie Beer Pairing @ The Double Windsor, Brooklyn:

Wednesday at the Double Windsor brings you one of the most creative beer/food pairing events we've seen.  And the most delicious.  Who doesn't love Girl Scout Cookies?  Who doesn't love beer?  It's an obvious pair that the entire world has overlooked until now.

Speakeasy has taken the reigns on this event and will be offering their finest ales for the bartenders at the Double Windsor to pair with our favorite cookies.  Check these out:

Payback Porter and Thin Mints White Lightning and Samoas Double Daddy Imperial IPA and Tagalongs Prohibition Ale and Do-si-dos

The Double Windsor is located at 210 Prospect Park West between 15th and 16th Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Thursday, May 12 - Oysters and Two Brothers @ Jimmy's No. 43, Manhattan:

More oysters??  Oh yes.  And Two Brothers best brews straight out of Illinois.  You know, the state that most comes to mind when one thinks of oysters.  Well, despite their lack of a coastline for oyster farming, their beer will be sure to pair well.  Jimmy's No. 43 is making this a warm weather weekly event and they have employed their own oyster shucker Eddie Oyster, who will be happy to give you a shucking lesson.  But for shucking sakes, try not to shuck after your fourth pint from Two Brothers.

Jimmy's No. 43 is located at 43 East 7th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, East Village, Manhattan.

Thursday, May 12 - Victory Tap Takeover @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

Victory, we've missed you.  We really liked hanging out with your rep all those times at Brooklyn Brewery events and Pony Bar events and Rattle n' Hum events.  We'd like to see you again.  Soon.  Any chance you'll be back in the area in the near future?  Oh.  You'll be taking over the taps at Bierkraft out in Park Slope this Thursday?  And you're bringing fourteen of your favorite brews?  And you want us to come join you!?!?  And we can bring friends who also love your beer and good times!?!?!?!?  Well, this week just went from super-awesome to extra-super-awesome.  Check out the list:
