I think this is what we've been waiting for:  the first real week of Spring.  And the start of the Spring Craft Beer season here in NYC.  The events aren't much different than the events that happen during other seasons, it's just that the weather is nicer, the windows are open at the bars and more people show up in less clothes. Wednesday, April 27 - Coney Island Craft Lagers and Circus Side Show @ Amity Hall, Manhattan:

Schmaltz Brewing Company, the brewers of Coney Island Craft Lagers, will be bringing their brews to Greenwich Village's Amity Hall along with two of the greatest Coney Island Circus Side Show - Heather Holiday the Sword Swallower and Donny Vomit the Human Block to perform their great feats of strength and freakdom for your pleasure.  They'll also be bringing a selection of their brews, including Sword Swallower and Human Blockhead, which feature images of the famed performers on their labels.  Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Coney Island USA non-profit organization that supports the circus side-show performers.

Amity Hall is located at 80 West 3rd Street between Sullivan and Thompson Streets, Greenwich Village, Manhattan.

Thursday, April 28 - Farmhouse Ale Night @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

The original spring beer had nothing to do with lemons or oranges.  The original spring beer was farmhouse ales brewed by Belgian and French farmers during the spring planting season - a golden, herbal and spicy brew served during the spring planting season as a refreshment during the lunchtime break and to end a long day of working in the fields.

Bierkraft will bill pouring an impressive list of farmhouse ales to help you relax after working in the fields - of cubicles and not-so-corner-offices.  Relax with a few of these:

Pretty Things Jack D’or Saison Dupont Sixpoint Harbinger Saison Two Brother’s Domaine du Page Barrier Cycle Saison Greenport Harbor Spring Saison Saison Cazeau

Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue, between Berkeley and Union Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Saturday, April 30 - "Chicago's Finest" @ GRAB Specialty Foods, Brookyn:

Who is Chicago's finest you ask?  Well, Anheuser-Busch would now say Goose Island.  The craft brewery from Chicago with the big money and distribution backing of Anheuser-Busch will be pouring samples at GRAB Specialty Foods in Brooklyn.  Expect their Honkers and IPA and 2 other mystery brews - can we hope for Matilda or Bourbon County?  Or have those been discontinued.  Only Anheuser-Busch would know for sure.

GRAB Specialty Foods is located at 438 7th Avenue between 14th and 15th Streets, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
