BFF4 Second Round - Phil's Bracket

Phil Foleen

Second round!  but first....RECAP!  No real first round surprises here: Torpedo came out on top of Fire Rock Pale ale, not shocker for the 1 Seed.  Deschutes Black Butte put in a good fight against Hop Stoopid, only being bested in the last minute by 1.  Despite my personal prejudice Collaboration Saison won out against the Widmer Bros Drop Top, and Stone's Arrogant Bastard came out ahead of Anchor's Christmas Ale.  Sierra Nevada Estate Ale bested the higher seated Dos Equis Amber and Rogue's Shakespeare Stout won the battle against Green Flash's West Coast IPA.  Finishing out the first round Kona Pipeling Porter beat it's California cousin Lagunitas Censored Red. For our first match we have 1 vs 8 Sierra Nevada Torpedo against Lagunitas Hop Stoopid.  The first of our possible Super Hopped rounds, this one will come down to which of these has the better set of hops to beat up your taste buds!

Next up is our 5 vs 13 round with Stone's Collaboration Saison competing with Speakeasy's Big Daddy IPA.  Personally I'm voting for the Big Daddy since the Saison isn't my cup of beer-tea, but who's surprised by that!

Top of the second half gives us Stone again with their Arrogant Bastard taking on Sierra Nevada's Estate Ale for our 11 vs 14.  I think this is going to be a tough one, Stone's Arrogant hoppy juggernaut taking on the ecologically minded and delicious Estate Ale.  Who will win out?  Vote and let us know!

Rounding out the Second Round we have Oregon's Rogue Shakespeare Stout taking on Hawaii's Kona Pipeling Porter.  The West Coast Heavy round maybe?  This one's a tuffy, which do you like?  They're both fantastic dark ales with full bodies and nice, rounded out flavors. For all the second round voting I think this one is going to come down to favorites!  Vote to make sure your favorite is the one that wins!
