Live Blog: Saranac and Lake Placid Night @ The Pony Bar

Brad

Tuesday June 22nd has some pretty gnarly thunderstorms roll through.  That kept the crowd a the event a little lighter than usual, but that didn't scare away the beer friends.  By now you all should know our motto... "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these beer friends from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"

On to the beverages!

Brad 1st - Lake Placid: 46'er Pale  Ale - I cheated, I really like this beer and went for it instead of trying something new.  Clean an refreshing 46'er is a great all aroud beer you can have any time.

Paul 1st- Lake Placid: Frostbite IPA- an IPA light on bitterness, this beer doesn't lack flavor. Full of American hops, the strong pine flavor and a slight berry flavor that prompted one beer friend to say "tastes like licking Mrs. Clause's bush..."

Brad 2nd - Saranac: High Peaks Imperial Stout: This 9.0 ABV beer is strong-ish, much like a coffee that's sat out too long.  it's a little bitter and I like my stouts more smooth but after the whole 8 oz... I don't remember what I was talking about...

Paul 2nd -Lake Placid Brew: Honey Rye- was delicious. Sort of tasted like a bowl of golden grahams. Would have liked to see how a whole pint tasted, but I definitely dumped my beer in brads lap. Well... on to the next one!

Brad 3rd - Saranac: High Peak Imperial IPA - This is a great beer.  slightly Hoppy - not as much as a traditional IPA but sweeter and almost has a iced tea type taste.  Either way it goes down easy and never hard to drink.

Paul 3rd- Lake Placid: 46'er pale ale - Delicious beer. I am a lover of pale ales and this beer doesn't disappoint. Nice light pour that finishes clean. I'll get this any day of the week any time of year.

Brad 4th - Lake Placid Ubu Ale - Another solid offering from Lake Placid -

Paul 4th- Saranac: Summer brew- Tastes like lemonade. Seriously! If beer tasted like this I would have never gone through that vodka phase in high school... Its a shandythat's in a keg. My bartender sister thinks a canned shanty  is gross, but she's just being uppity...
